CIPS Analysis

Damage to pipelines is often attributed to the occurrence of pressure transients and water hammer events, however the corroborating evidence is usually missing due to the impracticality of testing and detecting the occurrence of these events, particularly the water hammer events that accompany cavitations in the pipeline. Water hammer events are difficult to detect because they may occur without warning and have durations significantly short (milliseconds) which cannot be identified by standard pressure monitoring equipment.

By mapping where the customer’s network is most at risk and exposing dynamic pressure variability, Assetlife Alliance can provide a narrative on network behaviour including events such as pressure surge, unusual usage patterns, negative pressures and asset misbehaviors. Assetlife Alliance can also use its unique technology to distill an accurate but simplified representation of the network. This can then be used to inform and implement pressure control strategies across the network.

Assetlife Alliance offers a number of different solutions to assist clients in the monitoring and analysis of the transient effects upon a pipeline network. Assetlife Alliance deploy, collect and monitor collect information which allow the identification of transient events, carry out root cause analysis and support clients with their asset management and replacement requirements.

We install or supply  sensors to monitor and analyse transient and steady-state hydraulic conditions in water supply networks. The device can be installed on hydrants, pumps and pressure reducing valves, in water treatment works or reservoirs, and more.
