Asset Life Extension

Getting as much life as possible out of an infrastructure asset is a fundamental contributor to its overall cost. However during its life the asset will be subject to inevitable structural deterioration and attack from the environment, chemicals, stray currents, 3rd parties and more.

The response to some of these influences may be obvious e.g. the repair of spot damage. Other damage may be more widespread and ultimately threatens to shorten the expected working life of the asset. This might include excessive inflow and infiltration into wastewater pipes, excessive leakage from water mains, multiple joint failures, widespread corrosion, etc.

The remedial response to these more widespread attacks may be extensive and expensive and consideration must be given to how much additional asset life will be achieved and overall cost-effectiveness.

Assetlife Alliance has a comprehensive understanding of the ways that assets deteriorate, the types of responses that can be utilised to extend/restore the life of the current asset and the analysis required to confirm the cost-effectiveness of the preferred approach.
